The Best Path To Becoming A Personal or Business Coach

As the largest worldwide professional association for coaching, the International Coach Federation sets the benchmark for coach certification. The ICF has over 50,000 accredited members who are regarded as some of the best coaches in the industry. From education and training to a rigorous coach certification process, ICF-accredited coaches have immediate credibility and all the opportunities that come with it.

Our ICF Coach Training Program
– Get Your ACC Credential

The Coaches Toolbox.

We start with the basics and one by one you learn the ICF’s 11 Core Coaching Competencies. No prerequisite or prior experience is required. Accredited by the ICF for 60 hours, this program fulfills the ACC credential training requirement and introduces the ICF coaching model in a step-by-step learning progression. Knowledge is grounded through intensive practice and deeper exploration of the coaching competencies.

Dedicated Coach Instructors

More than just teachers, our ICF-accredited coach instructors have deep, real-world experience in personal and business coaching. We hail from a variety of professions including corporate leadership, training & development, and education. Central to our team values is the motivation to bring out the best in people, leveraging individual strengths, capitalizing on learning opportunities, and providing a high benchmark for the coach training industry.

Online Learning

In the online training environment, questions can be answered immediately, bringing quick-clarity and momentum to the learning process. We practice in pairs and small groups, benefiting from instructor feedback to fine-tune our new coaching skills. There are discussions, explorations, and spontaneity. The coaching sessions are real. Each student brings their own important topics to the weekly class sessions.

Get Ready for the CKA Exam

The final step in the ACC coach certification process is the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA) test. You will have three hours to answer 155 questions. The CKA exam requires knowledge, context, and the ability to apply what you have learned to real-world coaching situations. Our CKA Intensive helps you transform worry into confidence and pass the first time.

Build Your Coaching Buddy Alliance

A key part of the ICF credentialing process is the requirement for 100 practice coaching hours. Sapphire Coaches’s Coaching Buddy Network puts you in direct contact and connection with a diverse group of aspiring coaches – aka, “coaching buddies.” Together you practice coaching and log the required 100 hours toward your credential. Many coaching buddies schedule weekly practice to accumulate their logged hours.

Kickstart Your Coaching Business Program

Our support does not stop with your ACC credential. Building a thriving coaching business is a science and to many, the most overwhelming part of the process. We are your mentors and provide the knowledge you need to succeed. The “Kickstart Your Coaching Business Program” is our bonus to you, the new ICF-certified coach.

FAQ

Why is having an ICF coaching credential so important?

ICF-certified coaches are part of a self-regulating international group of skilled coaches who provide accountability to clients and the coaching profession. They pursue and complete rigorous education and practice requirements that provide unquestioned legitimacy to their commitment to excellence in coaching. The ICF is the largest professional coaching association in the world.

What Certification Will I Receive At The End Of The Program?

Upon completion of Sapphire Coaches’s full program you will qualify to take the CKA Exam for your Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential, issued by the ICF. Some non-accredited training programs offer the designation of Certified Professional Coach or Life Coach. This is not a recognized credential. It is a generic term often used by schools and coaches who are not accredited.

How Long Does Your Training Hours Take To Complete?

The ICF requires that 48 of the 60 training hours be “synchronous” or live with an instructor. Up to 12 hours can be “asynchronous” or self-paced, such as reading or watching videos. The optimal training is spread over time, giving you a chance to practice and internalize what you learn in a building-block approach. You also have a personal and work life that doesn’t stop. We meet just once a week online for three hours. Between sessions, it is at your own pace with our immersive and interactive learning modules. You will log hours with coaching buddies as you have time available.

What Background Do Your Instructors Have?

Our programs are delivered by a select group of ICF-certified coach trainers with a minimum Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential. Many team members hold PhDs or advanced education degrees with experience in executive leadership, training & development, and other support professions. More than just capable educators, Sapphire Coaches trainers create a supportive environment that maximizes learning and capability.

Are There Any Prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites or prior experience required for the program.

What are the requirements for an Associated Certified Coach (ACC) credential?

There are four primary elements to the ICF certification process for the first-level coaching credential, commonly called “ACC”. They are:

  1. Complete at least 60 coach-specific training hours through an ICF-accredited program.
  2. Log 100 hours of coaching experience with at least eight different clients.
  3. Receive 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over a minimum of 3 months from an ICF-certified coach.
  4. Successful completion of the Coaching Knowledge Assessment (CKA).

How did Sapphire Coaches Begin?

Our parent company and owner of the Sapphire Coaches brand is Life Coach Workshops, Inc., an accredited provider of ICF coach training under the ACSTH (Accredited Coach Specific Training Hours) category. The 60-hour Foundations One & Two ACC program was provided by Life Coach Workshops at locations throughout the US and internationally. In 2020, the program has been relaunched under the Sapphire Coaches brand and moved from the physical classroom to the virtual one. The core curriculum and our approach to learning remains 100% focused on the ICF 11 Core Coaching Competencies. The goal of our program is to prepare students for the successful attainment of an Associate Certified Coach credential and to subsequently build a successful coaching business.
